Interzone nullarbor 2007

Entering Australias biggest demoparty, Interzone nullarbor 2007 proved to be a great career move for UWA computer science students. "Zyberflux", a linux game created by UWA students came second place in the nullarbor games competition.

Chicago-based Interzone Games snapped up the first and second place game competition winners for its new Perth Studio.  "The Interzone Nullarbor Competition this year was exceptional in the quantity and quality of the entries" said Interzone Executive Producer Mike Turner.

"Zyberflux was an opportunity to work with friends on an exciting development project," said UWA's James Strauss. “But working for Interzone is a serious career move."

There were two other entries by UWA students: Scott Kerr's 'Last Dawn' (a game about surviving in a zombie infested world), coming 5th, has proven to be popular entry on the online demoscene community pouet.net. Adrian Boeing's 'Ray4k' (a four kilobyte raytracer) placed 2nd in the Demoscene competition.

You can download the entries and read more about nullarbor from its website: www.notrees.org, and about UWA computer science students involvement from a CSSE press release.

Congrats on Ray4k.

Congrats on Ray4k.

Did I detect a hint of homage to boing from the Amiga demo scene?

Heh,

Heh, thanks, but actually the similarity was coincidental, but you are right, it does look a fair bit like it. Maybe I should do an updated version with matching colors ;)
