Ice + Link Week = ??

How many of you turned up to the Link Week BBQ on the Oak Lawn today? For a free sausage? A free fruit juice? A free squeezy tomato sauce? A free ice cube, even?

Well, I was there, along with many energetic UniSkills people. There was the frying of the sausage, the frying of the venerable onion, the gentle clothing of the bun in the napkin, the putting of the ice in the tub for the juice, the panic as I realised I'd cut the lids of the top three juices when I opened the box with, perhaps, too much vigor... ahh, good times! Apart from the smell - that is something I'm not too keen on. I had a lecture in the middle if it all and I felt quite embarrassed for myself. What if my fellow students thought that it was due to some twistd lack of hygiene that I smelt like I'd just come from a BBQ? Ach well, too late now: I'm all showered and smelling sweet as a daisy (actually, what does a daisy smell like? I don't think I've ever smelled a daisy... hmm...).

It never ceases to amaze me how much fun it is doing stuff for UniSkills. And I know I'm not the only one who thinks so: there is a veritable army of students out there who are willing to give up their precious time and energy to help out with whatever Sarah or Judy have planned.

I'm akin to Scrooge with my time: I'm quite free with my money (when I have it) but my time and my energy... that's a different matter. Yet, whenever I get asked if I have the time and inclination to do something for UniSkills, I'm there. All I do is make sure I am actually free at the required time (double-booking is so '90's, people). It hardly seems like work, it's just so much fun. And from what I've heard, all the things organised by UniSkills for first years, really does help with the transition to Uni life.

*inhales deeply*

Ooh, I smell food! No, not sausages, nor onions - quiche! And so I will leave you all for another week. By then I will feel as if the BBQ smell has truly left my pores Tongue out

Oh and one more thing: the title to this post? Well, I wasn't inspired so I just made something up... it's not my best work, I'll admit but even exceptional geniuses have their down-days!
