The quickest and easiest way to create a book page is to click on the 'create new book page' menu item under the 'books (or 'Wikis')' menu item:

After that, you will be taken to the 'submit book page' form, where you complete a number of details about your new post. Here you give your book page a title, a 'Node Tag' and a 'Free Tag' (two ways of categorising your work for users who may want to find your post by looking for categories). This is also where you create the 'body' content of your page, inputting formatted text and insterting images etc.
