Hi everyone - as the annoucement above suggests, the node.live community is movingto Facebook. We think this will make it a lot easier for incomign students to find us and will allow students and staff to interact in a much more productive way. Follow the links aboe and if you need more help on gettign started in Facebook then this Survival Guide from the UWA Study Smarter team might be useful.
See you over on Facebook!

From next week I won't be available in the Resource Room on Fridays. I'll still be around as usual on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On Thursdays I'll be available by appointment only as I'm based in the student services building that day.

Holidays are a funny thing. Every now and then I panic that I should be doing an assignment or doing some reading but then I remember I'm on holidays. I have a feeling that the minute I get used to relaxing it'll be time to get back into uni work. People are talking about picking up unit outlines for next Semester already! I didn't even know that was possible - I suppose it might be worth a go although then I might feel the need to start getting books out of the library again! eek!

In 2006 I got to go to Australia's only Disability Film Festival "The Other Film Festival". The festival features films made by, about and for people with disabilities and is held every 18 months, the next one is coming up in September. Its also the most accessible film festival in the country with audio descriptions for vision impaired and captions for hearing impaired. An amazing event if you can get there but if not, last time they streamed some films & workshops over the internet.

The BBC is launching Britain's Missing Top Model (a show like America's Next Top Model but with disabled contestants) in the hopes of changing attitudes towards disability. You can watch their promo on YouTube

UniSkills' Flying Start Orientation got off to a... well, Flying Start today. Students enjoyed a day of activities ranging from Campus tours to a volleyball. We all started the day with some 'icebreaker' activities.

In 2007, we asked three fabulous then-first-year students - Dion, Anne and Elza - to blog for us on the node website. We've created a collection of the best posts on the first six weeks of life at uni for a 'fresher'. Here they are (click here for the full post ):
